Layouts invited so far:

Alderford      OO gauge

Alderford is a fictional town somewhere in the North West of England. The time is the mid/late 1980’s. In this period BR was in the midst of an image change owing the introduction of sectorisation  a few years earlier. This means that trains in various new sector liveries as well as BR Blue may be seen.

Ja’ness Yard     O gauge

Tucked away in the rolling hills of central Scotland, Ja’ness was once a proud hub in the golden age of the railways. From the mid-1800s to the late 20th century, three busy lines converged here, moving people and goods, essential for the surrounding communities

Silff Ffenester     OO9 gauge

Window Sill or Silff Ffenestr (in Welsh) is a fictional layout based on the Ffestiniog Railway c2015.

Chop-It-Up Lumber Company    GN15 scale

Chop-It-Up Lumber Company is a purely fictitious location, supposedly operating somewhere in the southern part of Canada just north of the USA Border in or around 1930 to 1940. It runs a varied fleet of broken down “raggle taggle” decrepit old locos and rolling stock which have been bought from various location around the world.

Morvern Terminal     N gauge

The Morven terminal is built to American N gauge standards (1:160 scale as opposed to 1:148 for British N, although the 9mm track gauge is the same). It shows an intermodal freight yard on a section of CSX main line railroad in the Eastern USA, and is set in modern times.

Four Feather Falls     ON30 scale

The layout is in fact two layouts. The upper part being a logging line, the lower line servicing the mine at the right hand side. A large fiddle yard behind the back scene allows a variety of stock to be seen. Located in a mountainous area, a feature of the layout is a gorge where the Feather River gushes under three bridges.

Tellindalloch     OO gauge

Viaduct Road     O gauge

THIS SINGLE BOARD LAYOUT HAS BEEN DESIGNED TO SHOW WHAT CAN BE ACHIEVED IN A SMALL SPACE IN O GAUGE. THE LAYOUT FOCUSES ON THE WICKHAM TROLLEY RECENTLY PRODUCED BY ELLIS CLARK TRAINS, WITH AN ENHANCED TROLLEY SHED AS THE MAIN FOCAL POINT.

Eko Stahl     HO gauge

Spirit Of Shap     OO gauge

The mainline over Shap summit in the Cumbrian fells has been an irresistible draw for generations of railway enthusiasts. The layout attempts to recreate something of this atmosphere in the classic steam era, including a recreation of the banking arrangements that were employed to assist the heavier trains up the incline — the layout has been built on a gradient so that the trains really do have to climb the bank.

Macclesfield     N gauge

Macclesfield Hibel Road is a model of the main Macclesfield station and goods yard at Hibel Road that closed in 1960-62 when all services moved to a new station at Waters Green on the site of the former Central Station. The layout is set in the early 1950s, after nationalisation but with many reminders  of its former life as the town’s main station.

WW2 Rotterhausen    HO gauge

Rottershausen depicts a small station near the Prussia/ Bavaria border in the late summer of 1944. In addition to its civilian capacity, Rottershausen has a large military loading dock used as a staging point for the movement of vehicles and tanks.

Knype Bridge     O gauge

Knype Bridge parcel depot is situated alongside platform 4 of Knype Bridge station. Although the traffic is predominantly parcel vans the sidings can play host to anything from an engine awaiting its next duty to a lowly engineers wagon. A DMU service uses platform 4 and there’s usually a shunter knocking around bringing in vans for loading/unloading.

Newton Ferrier     OO gauge

This fictitious layout from the Perth Model Railway Group is set in remote countryside at a location anywhere you imagine it to be in northern mainland Britain. The track plan is based on a real location in the North East of England just south of the Scottish border.

Lily Lane     N gauge

The layout was made by Lily when she was eight years old and her grandad Les. Ever since 2018 Lily has wanted to have her own railway so she started designing one for 2019 and it took them eighteen months to finish the layout.

Montague Field     OO gauge

Depot de Camions     N gauge

This lorry depot is set near or in the third of Switzerland that has French as the main language, which means I can run French rolling stock on the layout. The imaginary site is near to the outskirts of a large town on a main railway line, so allowing running both main line and suburban stock.

Clun Castle    OO gauge

Clun Castle, is the western terminus of the Clun Valley Light railway, a very rural line in the far west of Shropshire. The scene is set in the late 1930’s just before the outbreak of WW2, and has survived due to locality of timber stocks.

Conder Bridge     N gauge
